Happy Chinese New Year everyone!
How's the HongBao collection coming along.
It seems that over the years, chinese new year for me, has seem to have lost some of its childish thrill.
Ang Bao ain't such a big deal anymore, what matters most for me now is rather being with my extended family and basically having fun.
As the years go by, my own mortality have become increasingly apparent. Looking at how my relatives have aged made me realise how we should treasure every chance and moment that we have together.
My cousins too have grown older, long have the days been when we used to play together.
Everyone is either working, married or in the Uni and of course me the lone person still in NS.
Times have certainly changed and indeed we should cherish whatever time we have given to us.

Just watched Memoirs of a Geisha with some of my squad mates.
Watching it, i don't know what to say really.
I can't make up my mind whether it was more entertaining or informative, and sadly the movie did not do exceedingly well in both instances.
Fistly the show was not captivating as i could not really feel the true essence of the emotions portrayed by the characters.
Secondly, though the movie, like the book, sought to dispel the western myths regarding the Geisha, the movie actually left alot of important terminology and practices unexplained.
Like what the freak is a danaan, am i spelling it correctly? So is it like some kind of benefactor? or is it a lord? or husband?
One thing i must commend is the fact that for the first time a hollywood movie has a majority asian cast which i feel is really a milestone.
Other then that i feel the show is kind of lame at some points but then again the show is not entirely to blame for it is based on a book. Which i would highly doubt in terms of its authencity in portraying the true essence of a Geisha, for correct me if i am wrong, the book is written by an American and also because it is a work of fiction.
Yeh well i guess Geisha is an ok movie, preferably a date movie i guess.

"sometimes a man's eel likes to visit a women's cave"
and by the way my mizuage is ripe and valued at about 5 million bucks, start bidding now.

Man i am done drinking for the next month or two at least.
Met up with Kenneth on friday night, in case you didn't know Kenneth was one of the three guys of the infamous 1303 back in AJC, and adjourned to acid bar for some catching up.
Well we shared stories from our NS experiences and also relived all the funny moments back in AJC.
We started of with some whiskey mixes and gradually went through two jugs of Tiger beer, thats when Kenneth met his friends and started downing some Chivas and stuff and got himself pissed drunk.
Had to bring him home luckily it was nearby and also his mum allowed me to stay over so everything was cool, and we went for breakfast the next morning.
Acid bar is cool, yea the crowd is kinda older but the music and the atmosphere is great, you guys should check it out some time.

I am not one you would call a religious person, sure i go to church every Sunday and i try to say my prayers, but i am not one who would go around with Bible in hand trying to preach the word and what have you.
Well one thing i do strongly believe in is that what we have on earth is a gift, a gift from God.
We have but a few things, a few yet sufficient and important tools for our earthly pilgrimage.
God has given us our talents and even more importantly time.
Time given to us to to make the best out of it.
It is not how fast you can do something or how successful you can do something, it is not important if you earn a million bucks before 30 but rather how you make use of your time.
It is not for us to debate and say "if only i had more time, if only i was born in a different time" the thing that should be foremost on our minds should be rather what am i going to do with this time that i have.
Each of us is given this time, and hopefully we make use of it to make a difference however minute it might be.

After 10 long months Posted by Picasa

I'm back, back with a vengeance. After I guess what? Three plus months of inactivity, my blog is finally back in action.
Two reasons why I am starting to blog again, firstly to maintain my level of writing which has been on the decline since I started this thing called NS. Secondly and more importantly because some friend of mine said that I don't update my blog.
Yeh well so just for YOU I am writing again.
I was looking through my previous posts, and man I sound like some love sick puppy, what the hell was I thinking when I worth that geez!!!!!!!
Well for your information this blogger is now a different man, besides the fact that I am now a commissioned officer, ahem!, I am also no longer reliant on girls for my emotional security- I hope.....
Well I guess I should give you guys an update on what has been happening over this past few months. Well for one I am no longer a trainee at the police academy that meaning I have finally after an exhaustive 10 months been commissioned to the rank of inspector. I am still single, thank you very much, and I guess kind of bored since I am on leave till the 1st of febuary and have nothing really important to do.

Oh yeh you guys out there should try listening to Bloc party and Coheed and Cambria, both awesome alternative bands that I am currently listening to.
Well guess that's all I have to say for now, check back regularly for more updates.
Cheers :)
